Gift Fic 2: Bending the Rules
Title: Bending the Rules
Author: Anakha
Genre: Romance, AU
Word length: 339
Sypnosis: Sometimes, just sometimes, Vanitas likes to bend the rules.
Pairings: Vanitas/Sora
Notes: None
“Vanitas.”
“What?”
“I told you, not the day before an exam!”
“It’s not the day before an exam, Sora.”
“Yes, it is!”
“A test that you don’t have to go to the testing center for isn’t an exam.”
The two stare at each other, deadlocked, from across the café table. Each of them has a sandwich on a plate. Sora, though, is sitting back, pouting as he nibbles on his potato chips. Vanitas is eating his own chips, resting his chin in hand while his elbow rests on the table. They don’t say anything for a good few minutes before Vanitas finally rolls his eyes.
“Sora, it’s on a topic you know inside-out. Studying won’t help you. At all,” Vanitas finally groans, sitting back in his chair. Sora just continues to pout and takes a big bite out of his smoked ham and Swiss cheese sandwich. He won’t say a word, nope. Not until Vanitas acknowledges he broke a rule.
“Sora. You’re being the stubborn one for once. That’s my job,” Vanitas says, clearly growing very aggravated. To quell his own anger and take it out on something and not someone, he bites rather aggressively into his own steak and white cheddar sandwich. At least it’s good.
“You’re breaking the rules,” Sora finally huffs out, taking another bite. Vanitas tries not to flip the table at his boyfriend’s childish behavior. He just digs into his sandwich, lets the growing anger build up. He has to remain civil, they’re in public.
“Isn’t this more like bending them?” he finally grates out. Sora pauses, taking a thoughtful bite of chip before sighing and nodding his concession. Yes, indeed, it’s more like bending the rules since the rules say exam and this is just a normal test. Vanitas finally lets go of the building emotions and half-smirks.
“Fine, then. Now eat that stupid sandwich of yours and hurry up. I’m planning on ice cream next.”
“B-But I need to study…!”
“No buts. You need to learn to bend the rules yourself sometimes.”
